Lunch and Learn (January 2021): COVID-19 Vaccination Best Practices: Staff and Resident Considerations

Description

CEUs: 1.0
Cost: Complimentary

Sponsored by Consonus

Due to some recent changes, OHCA has rescheduled the event to January 27 at noon. The January 27 and March 3 Lunch and Learn sessions are being underwritten by Consonus Healthcare and will be complimentary to attend.

For the long term care sector, and especially for senior care residents and staff, living through the COVID-19 pandemic has been extraordinarily challenging. Now with the arrival of highly safe and effective vaccines, we’re experiencing something we haven’t felt enough for a very long time—hope.

Consonus Pharmacy is one of the approved trusted providers to dispense the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine to seniors in long term care and assisted living facilities and the staff who care for them. The Pharmacy adopted a unique model by partnering with nursing staff within facilities and communities to administer the vaccine and this has allowed the team to complete 150+ successful vaccine clinics.

Presenters: Beth Biggs and Terri Fagan

This session will cover lessons learned during two rounds of vaccine clinics, offer resources to help build vaccination confidence, address side effects and VAERS reporting criteria, identify staffing model best practices and start to discuss where to go from here, and the ongoing vaccination plan in Oregon.

Learning Objectives:

  • Uncover resources to help build vaccination confidence with residents/families and staff.
  • Address possible side effects and identify VAERS reporting criteria.
  • Identify staffing model best practices around vaccination clinics and in preparation for side effects.
  • Discuss ongoing vaccination plans.

Grab your lunch and join us for an interactive education session! Each "Lunch and Learn" session will focus on an important legal, human resources or other regulatory compliance topic for long term care providers. Held virtually until further notice, this session is intended to be an active discussion with audience members to talk through challenges and best practices for compliance. Active engagement is encouraged!
