The OHCA 40-hour ALF/RCF Administrator Training Program is recognized by the State of Oregon Seniors & People with Disabilities to fulfill the requirements of 853-035-0000 (Residential Care Facility Administrator Application Requirements; (6) Submit proof of having completed at least 40 hours of training pursuant to OAR 853-035-0100).
In this training course, participants will review regulatory requirements and best practices from expert consultants, regulators, and experienced professionals. Through review of current rules (OARs), resource materials, and interactive exercises, class participants will have the information needed to comply with Oregon regulations for assisted living and residential care communities.
Each program day focuses on a critical element of ALF/RCF administration:
- Day One: Foundations of ALF/RCF Administration
- Day Two: Foundational Practices of Resident Move-in and Person-Centered Care
- Day Three: Administrator Role in Resident Health Services
- Day Four: Survey Process and Quality Improvement Programs
- Day Five: Connecting with State Agencies/Regulatory Principles
Successful completion of this virtual training program requires participants to attend the live virtual training in its entirety, complete online learning modules, and complete independent study elements.
Certificates of completion are awarded for successful completion of the course and the final assignment. The course registration fee must be paid in full to receive certificate of completion.
Education Requirements:
To qualify to become an ALF/RCF administrator in Oregon, OAR 853-035-0000 states that you must have at least one of the following work or educational experiences:
- Employed in a professional/managerial capacity in a field related to health/social service for at least two of the last five years; or
- Earned at least a bachelor's degree in a health or social-services-related field; or
- Have a combination of experience and education deemed sufficient by the Oregon Health Licensing Office.
