Reopening Confidently: The Future of Senior Living Amidst COVID-19
The world of senior housing and post-acute maintenance has changed with the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing wildfires in Oregon. This session focuses on the maintenance department’s role in reopening your community confidently and keeping your property and residents safe. The presenter will explore solutions including, but not limited to, cutting-edge sanitation technology, HVAC systems checks, infection control protocols, and more. As we move into the future, during and after the pandemic, stay a step ahead of your competition and protect your property to better position you for the future.

Common Life Safety Issues and Strategies for Survey Success During and After a Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced senior living and post-acute care communities to repurpose their community spaces, find creative storage options and change the processes of getting maintenance done. Compliance with the Life Safety Code (NFPA #101, 2012 edition as enforced by CMS and its contractors) has been particularly challenging during the management of COVID-19 and other emergencies, like the recent wildfires in Oregon.  In addition to identify issues associated with facility operations during adverse conditions, this informative program will present solutions, including the proper use of the 1135 Blanket Waiver to help ensure compliance as well as a safe environment of care.  The presenter will cover a multitude of important life safety topics and provide several electronic resources for attendees.

Moving from Policy to Action: Emergency Plans, Fire Preparation and More

In this session the presenter will discuss how you move your best laid plans, into live workable action. In 2020 senior living providers have experienced a wide range of obstacles, including COVID-19 and wildfires. This session will discuss how to be proactive in your fire proofing and preparations and discuss appropriate emergency protocols and how to write and test your plan for success. The presenter will also discuss best practices for working with contractors and other hired professionals and maintain a good relationship and keep projects moving forward.
